Our organic african wormwood essential oil is cultivated by women in the lowveld of South Africa. It is one of the most commonly used medicinal plants in Africa, normally harvested between March and May, when the plants are in bloom.
CLEANSER | SOOTHER
When inhaled, the oil brings relief from nasal congestion and coughs. It is also antibacterial and antimicrobial and can be used in a wash to clean small wounds or cuts. In a hot bath or diffused into the air, it can bring pain relief for those suffering from rheumatism, neuralgia, arthritis, headaches and menstrual pain. Similarly it can relieve inflammation when added to a warm compress and applied to the affected area.
The oil is distilled from the aromatic multi-stemmed perennial shrub, Artemisia afra, with its soft greyish-green feathery leaves. The plant is indigenous to South Africa.
